Condolences on passing of former Mayor Patricia Fine

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has expressed the City’s condolences on the passing of former Mayor Patricia Fine.
‘The City conveys its deep condolences to friends and family of former Mayor Patricia Fine, who passed this weekend following a courageous battle with cancer. Her tenure coincided with South Africa’s transition to democracy, and she will be remembered for working tirelessly to bridge political divides during a pivotal time in South Africa’s history. She was a trailblazer in both City Council and the Chamber of Commerce, may her soul rest in peace,’ said Mayor Hill-Lewis.
Former Mayor Fine was elected to office in late 1993, serving until the first local government elections of the democratic era in 1995.Her tenure as mayor coincided with South Africa's transition to democracy, including the April 1994 general elections that brought the end of apartheid.
